Now Accepting Applications for 2025 Summer Courses

The Lincoln College Summer Academy Programme is a unique summer programme, giving students the opportunity to engage in interactive learning in small groups (max. 8 students), building on the tradition of the Oxford Tutorial, in courses delivered by experienced academics from the University of Oxford.

Instead of offering courses in specific disciplines, our courses focus on key contemporary themes – from shifts in global geopolitics, trade, and political economy, to climate change, the ethics of AI and digitalisation, and the need for responsible technological innovation. Our courses are therefore designed to bring together students from different disciplinary backgrounds – ranging from Economics, Business & Management, Politics & International Relations, Law, and the Humanities, to Data Science, Computer Science, Psychology, and Engineering. This will help students develop important transversal thinking skills, allowing them to move beyond subject-specific expertise to analyse large-scale contemporary challenges.

This residential programme is open to students (18+) who are currently studying towards an Undergraduate or postgraduate degree at University, or who have already completed their undergraduate studies.

Students will have the opportunity to actively engage with their learning materials through carefully guided readings, preparation, assignments, and in-class discussion with their peers and tutors, and will engage in a small research project, either individually or in small groups of 2 or 3. Thanks to the small size of teaching groups, students will receive targeted and personalised feedback from their tutors at all stages, helping them to develop precious skills in critical thinking, academic rigour, project design, and writing and presentation.

Students will develop a much better, hands-on grasp of the high academic standards that are widely applied in UK Universities, and the programme is therefore ideally suited to those seeking to apply for Postgraduate study atUK Universities. Students will receive a Certificate of Attendance at the end of the course, together with a transcript that provides a detailed assessment of the work they have completed for their personal projects and throughout the course.

In addition to receiving world-class teaching and engaging with innovative course content, students will reside in the historic surroundings of Lincoln College in the centre of Oxford. The programme includes on-site accommodation in single rooms with private, en-suite bathrooms, as well as full board (breakfast, lunch and dinner in College), and a formal, festive dinner on the last Friday of each 2-week session. Students will also participate in several academic skills workshops, multidisciplinary roundtable discussions on contemporary topics led by their tutors, guest lectures from distinguished speakers, and a full social programme with site visits to various landmarks in Oxford and excursions to London and/or Cambridge.
