Workshops and Round Tables

Preparing you for your Next Step

Study, Work, Life

While academic excellence lies at the heart of our Summer Academy Programme, we are keen to foster the development of additional skills that will help you transition to further study or to the world of work. The Programme therefore includes a range of Workshop focusing on areas that will help you in planning your future studies and/or career, as well as consolidating your academic skills.

The programme includes four 2-hour workshops. Some of these are presented to the entire cohort; others are taught in groups of 20 to 25 students to facilitate better teamwork, exchange, and interaction:

Academic writing in English

How to plan and execute a research project

Applying for postgraduate study in the UK

Design Thinking

How to manage your studies, projects, and career

Each workshop is taught by specialist professionals, from academia and from the private sector, under the guidance of the Programme Director.

In addition, each Session of the Summer Academy Programme also features a 2-hour Round-Table Conference, led by several of the tutors on the programme, and focusing on a key theme that brings together some of the different courses we offer. The purpose of these Round Tables is to foster conversations across disciplinary barriers, illustrating what different disciplines and approaches can contribute to a shared, collective understanding of a large-scale contemporary topic or challenge.

The programme also includes a guest-lecture by a distinguished Senior Academic for the University of Oxford, on a theme that resonates with the core guiding principles and themes of the programme, followed by a festive formal dinner in the College Hall.
